Spalting is a natural stage of wood decay caused by fungi, which leave behind the dark lines and patterns prized by woodworkers.

Spencer Peterman is always on the lookout for fallen trees. Based in Massachusetts, Peterman transforms salvaged wood into functional, one-of-a-kind pieces that showcase their distinctive patterns.

Hand wash with mild soap and towel dry.
Apply mineral oil once a month.
