Spencer Peterman crafts each bowl from a piece of fallen maple wood in Western Massachusetts. Each piece is unique in its level of spalting—the term used to describe the wood's natural stage of decay. The wood is cleaned, dried, and treated with beeswax and mineral oils.

Color, shape, and precise size will vary.

Spencer Peterman creates each of his pieces in his shop in Massachusetts mastering the Lathe art. He uses pieces of falling trees to create one of them making sure that every one of his woodwork has the dramatic spalted or ambrosia look. Peterman has 15 years of experience turning bowls and proud of his beginnings as basket weaver.
